I was under the impression from the post that ultradefrag had a way of managing the prefetcher, not just tweaking the reg settings of prefetcher itself. good to know, i'll give it a try. I wanted to share that I've had good results with all the steps above and have automated as much of it as possible with task scheduler. The long steps took quite a bit less time for me than for you (under 2 hours even for the longest defrag). I hope people aren't discouraged to give it a try cause ymmv on the time it will take to complete. Thanks so much for the links.
