AskApache Search Engine Verify

Description | Download | Installation | FAQ | Screenshots

You may not think much about verifying your website with these search engines, but I am of the opinion it is extremely good for Search Engine Optimization (SEO). In fact, I read the other day on Google that if you buy a domain with a checkered past that has been punished by the search engines and you want it to be reincluded in the index this is what they recommended. Verify your sites.

UPDATE: Now updated for WordPress 2.3.1, and every other 2+ version.

I can see the importance of verifying your website with Google Webmaster tool but i don’t see much SEO benefits for verifying it with the rest.

The good thing about GWT verification is that it lets you to track your SEO campaign thus cintributing to your SEO work.

That with a combination of SEO Software and you got yourself a very good SEO results in few months.

Thank you for this useful plugin, but just to let you know that there is a small bug:

On line 191 of search-engine-verify.php, you should use is_front_page() rather than is_home(), else the meta tags will not be inserted on a blog with a static home page (as set in Settings->Reading).

    Thanks again!

  3. Tien ~

Thank you for this plugin. We have a new site and just getting this site ready for google. I tried a few times to get verify meta tag but has been very frustrating for me til I found your great plugin. Just a few clicks, all my frustrations are gone. Thank you.

  4. stewart ~

I patched this to add an option to generate the meta for MS Live verification. Let me know if you want it.

I really need this plugin to work and is returning me: “Did not find them!”

Please, help me with any suggestion.

    I will appreciate it.

  7. opossum ~

thanks a million. i’ve struggled very much to get this to work. i’ve tried another plugin, but it would not work aof-seo-site-verifier-wordpress-plugin
try askapache and it may work for you.

great work and thanks for sharing.

Simple and efficient plugin ! Thanks.

    Two suggested enhancements :

You could use WP « other notes » page (or FAQ…) as some other plugins authors do put a version history.

You also could add to checkboxes for Google and Yahoo accounts, so that people who just use G. or Y. don’t have to include unusefull code in their header.

I followed the installation instruction: uploaded the zip file to my plugin directory and extracted it but I cant find the plugin in my plugin menu. Please help..

    @ Bruce

Ya that was my fault, just bad coding on my part. I went ahead and revamped the code and uploaded the update for you guys. Sorry about your that! I know how annoying it is to get a non-working version.

  11. Bruce Ehrlich ~

I installed the plugin and put in the metatags

    I get a

Warning: get_meta_tags(): URL file-access is disabled in the server configuration in /wp-content/plugins/aa-searchengine-verify/aa-searchengine-verify.php on line 95

Warning: get_meta_tags(http://www.site.com): failed to open stream: no suitable wrapper could be found in /wp-content/plugins/aa-searchengine-verify/aa-searchengine-verify.php on line 95

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /wp-content/plugins/aa-searchengine-verify/aa-searchengine-verify.php on line 98

Do you have any idea what that is?

  12. jblu ~

Thanks so much…I just used it to verify with Google Webmaster.

  13. Keith ~

Great plugin! This is so much easier than adding these manually. One suggestion for the next release would be to add upload capability of the verification files to the root site directory. This would allow more users (like myself) that utilize the file verification instead of the meta tag verification method to utilize your plugin.

    Keep up the great work!

  14. Danny ~

Just installed the updated 2.1 version, and still no verification love. Sorry. The plugin still returned, “Did not find them!” followed by an exclamation in a circle, then the number “1″.

  15. Danny ~

So, I love the idea of this plugin, but it is failing to insert the code, or (naturally) to verify that the code is there.

I have inserted the codes by hand in the meantime (but they show up on all pages now), but I’d love to use this plugin.

Let me know if you’d like to troubleshoot it with me. I’m using WP 2.3, with a static front page in root, while the wp install is in root/wordpress.

    Thanks.

  16. Esteban ~

I successfully installed the plug in (easy) but meta tag is not showing up.
Tried with standard theme and all the other themes including the one I am using now: i3Theme 1.1 – SEO by Mickey Cheong

  17. EverydayCrap ~

Great plugin… just installed it and it’s working perfect! Thanks.

  18. teknolojik internet magazini ~

im using it in my website.
    thanks for your effort.

Go for it!
